Hi Jennifer!
Welcome back to planDisney! We took a trip to Walt Disney World this past October and all four of my kids did remote learning and signed into their classes while on vacation. I think it’s a wonderful way to make the most of this challenging situation. My husband is in IT and has also been working at home since last spring.
Ideally, you'd find Disney wifi speed to be faster than the
Millenium Falcon, but in reality, it can sometimes be more like the slow-moving AT-AT you will see in
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. You will not find hard-wired ethernet cables at the resorts. There is
complimentary Guest wifi throughout the resorts, but the speed can vary depending on a multitude of factors. If your assigned room is on the outskirts of the resort, you may find the signal less than ideal. While you should always have wifi in your room, the speed may not meet your needs. I found some information that unofficial fan testing at
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort has show internet speeds to be around 3.5 Mbps. This is an average, and generally, you’ll find faster speeds when you are closer to the public areas of the resort. You might consider setting yourself up near the food court or pool to get a stronger signal.
Another option would be to consider a different resort. People report stronger and faster wifi at
Disney’s Pop Century Resort than at the All-Stars, and the same fan-based site that reported slow speeds at the All-Star resorts, reported the speed at Disney's Pop Century Resort to be close to 8.3 Mpbs. Disney's Pop Century Resort would be in a similar price range to the All-Star Resorts. Unfortunately, there is not an official Disney guaranteed wifi speed at any of the resorts. During our October trip, we stayed at Disney’s Old Key West Resort Resort and we did not have any issues with four children doing zoom meetings, but your mileage may vary.
Sending you good luck Jennifer, that you find wifi speeds that are out of this galaxy!
