Woo hoo!!! 72 more days!!! Money question? How do you recommend using cash/spending $ at the parks? Cash, Disney Gift Cards, using Key to the World...using a reserved credit card or putting cash on room account? Thanks for your help!! SUPER EXCITED!!!!

    Hi Faith,

Personally, I like to us my Key to the World Card card for the majority of my purchases at Walt Disney World. I like that doing this allows you to check a running total of your expenses at any time by stopping at the front desk of your hotel. I also like seeing the total amount of my vacation listed in one place at the end of my trip. You can set up charging to your Key to the World Card by leaving a credit card, debit card, or cash with the front desk when you check in.

That being said, I also always bring at least $40 and a credit card with me when I go to the parks. I do this primarily in case an emergency arises. There have been times when I've been traveling and encountered a medical situation that necessitated going from a park directly to a doctor. The cash and credit card will pay for a cab and/or emergency purchases off property.

There are also many guests who do most of their spending via Disney Gift Cards. They use this as a budgetary tool. They stop spending when the card runs out.

There is an extensive discussion of the pros/cons of different payment methods on the independent website blog.touringplans.com. Search there for an article called "Paying for Merchandise at Walt Disney World."

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
