Hello Moms... I was wondering if the Yachtsman Steakhouse or California Grill are places I can take my 3 year old and 4 year old for dinner. Or should I get them a sitter. Thanks so much for all the help!

Hi Gabrielle! One of the reasons I love Walt Disney World is that even the fanciest restaurants are child-friendly! (The only exception is Victoria and Albert's, which requires diners to be at least ten years old.)  Both the California Grill and The Yachtsman are upscale restaurants with gourmet food, but they also have children's menus and provide crayons for the little ones. Even though they are more adult-oriented restaurants than the character buffets, children are welcome. The California Grill is a favorite of my family -- my kids love the food there as much as my husband and I do, and the restaurant has a spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom. Meals at the signature restaurants tend to proceed at a more leisurely pace, so if you do decide to dine at one with your little ones, I recommend that you tell your server upfront that you need to eat fairly quickly since you have the youngsters with you.

If you don't feel that your children could sit quietly for a nice meal or if you think the stress of trying to keep them entertained and happy for an hour or so would ruin your dining experience, consider the Children's Activity Centers or hiring an in-room babysitter, such as Kid's Nite Out.

Have a magical vacation! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We'd love to help!
