Hello Adam!
Welcome to planDisney! As a
runDisney enthusiast, I am so very excited that in-person events will be returning. There is something about dressing in costume and running through Cinderella Castle that keeps me motivated with my training, especially through the cold winters here in Indiana.
Adam, it sounds as if you have already checked and noticed that
all events for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, including the Half Marathon are sold out. Disney does not offer packages specifically for runners, nor does it offer packages that include race entry. I’m sorry that you missed out this year. While unlikely, there is always the possibility that more race entries could be offered as the race approaches, so it never hurts to keep checking. Another option would be to investigate the possibility of
running with a charity. While running with a charity typically comes with fundraising obligations, it would allow you to participate in the event and help a worthwhile cause! (As a Girls on the Run Coach here in Indiana, that's my favorite!)
If crossing a
runDisney event off your bucket list is something you must do for 2022, there are still bibs available for the Disney Fairy Tale Challenge during
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. This event combines a 10K and a Half Marathon on back-to-back days, and rewards you with a third special medal for completing the Challenge! My family is currently training for this event and even my teen boys will be running it with shirts that say “Why are all these princesses chasing me?”
And while we don’t have all the details yet,
runDisney is planing a
Springtime Surprise Weekend run in early April. These events have not yet gone on sale, and this would offer you another opportunity to participate in a
runDisney event.
I’m so sorry the January races are full, Adam, but maybe one of the ideas above will have you running in your Mickey Ears in 2022.
Happy Training!
- Kate
