Hey, Trisha! Thank you for visiting us with your question.
As a Jersey girl myself, I grew up visiting the boardwalk in Wildwood, Seaside Heights, and Ocean City. It was our summer, with sounds of the ocean, prize bells at the games, and people shrieking and laughing all around. And the smells - oh my goodness! The pizza, Johnson's caramel corn, and zeppoli mixed with the salty air and made you hungry for a little taste of everything, as long as you topped off the night with a Kohr's Brothers ice cream.
Disney's BoardWalk Inn captures some of my fondest childhood memories. While there is no definitive proof, there are stories that Walt Disney visited Coney Island back in the early 1950's while planning to build
Disneyland, and he loved the boardwalk atmosphere. It was pure
Disney Imagineering that brought you this trip back to Atlantic City of old in the incredibly themed resort, but as a kid from Jersey, it stirs memories from generations of trips "down the shore."
Guests here can recreate so many of the Shore's
BoardWalk activities. You can rent a surrey bike for an early morning ride to the
BoardWalk Bakery for breakfast, or play some boardwalk style games while you grab a funnel cake at night. They may not be Walt's memories, but this resort certainly captures some of OUR memories as kids at the Jersey shore.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Trisha. If you get a chance to visit the BoardWalk Inn, even if you are not a resort guest, take a walk around and enjoy.
Anna
