Welcome Home, Samantha!
And a great big beautiful welcome back to planDisney. How exciting that you are dreaming about your next Disney vacation using your Disney Vacation Club Points. Samantha, as a DVC Member for the last 22 years, Membership has afforded us so many magical experiences and lasting memories to Disney and beyond that wouldn't have been possible otherwise.
Samantha, if you are on a
Waitlist for a Disney Vacation Club Resort and that room becomes available, you will be automatically booked into that room, and any concurrent reservations you have at that same time will be automatically canceled. Should you be moved off the Waitlist, the system will automatically use any Banked Vacation Points first toward your reservation, and then it will use Allotted Vacation Points as needed.
As DVC Members can only have
two active Waitlist requests per Membership Use Year, I always recommend canceling if you decide you no longer want to be on the Waitlist. Recently, my parents put themselves on a Waitlist and forgot, and then they got a surprise email notifying them they had been moved from the Waitlist to a confirmed reservation! Luckily for them, they took advantage of their "surprise" vacation. But, in the event you don't want to use your Vacation Points for that stay, I recommend keeping an eye on it and releasing it if you no longer need it. If a Waitlist request is confirmed and you cancel the accommodation 30 days or less prior to Check-In, then the Vacation Points used to book the accommodation will be placed in a Holding Account.
Unfortunately, there is no way to know
your status in the Waitlist queue, and even Member Services doesn't have access to that information. The system will automatically confirm your reservation if and when your room becomes available.
I hope this helps you, Samantha! If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, soar back here to see me and I'll be so happy to help you.
Magically Yours,
Keri
