Elisa,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Deciding which is better, Christmas or Halloween decorations, is a dangerous conversation to start! This is a topic that is hotly debated!
Typically the Christmas decorations in the
Magic Kingdom Park and other locations start going up right after Halloween. The last
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is held on October 31 this year, so all that scary goodness is sure to still be up when you arrive on your vacation. But immediately afterwards, like in the next day or two, the change will start to happen. But decorating 4 large theme parks, two water parks,
Disney Springs, and more than 2 dozen resorts does not happen overnight, even with some Christmas magic. The bulk of the park decorating at the Magic Kingdom Park,
Disney's Hollywood Studios, and
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park will be done by the end of the first week of November.
EPCOT follows later in the month of November, typically after the
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival ends. The resorts will mostly be done by mid-November as well.
So decorations are mostly all up in the parks by early November, but you won't see every last strand of tinsel and garland up until closer to Thanksgiving. As for when they all come down, things start moving off right after the new year.
BONUS TIP
If you really want to enjoy some extra special Christmas magic this year, consider getting tickets to
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. I am going this year, and I cannot wait!
BOTTOM LINEBased on your travel dates, you should get to enjoy the full Halloween experience, and a pretty good dose of Christmas joy, during your trip!
