Hi Erin,
Disney World security is a breeze! I am one of the unlucky few who gets pulled almost everywhere I go regardless of what is in my bag. I can confirm that even if you do have to go through secondary security, it is super quick and painless. You will go to the side and someone will open your bag for a quick search. They may also use a wand to scan your body for any metals. I have never had this take more than a few extra minutes even with a line.
Spray sunscreen is an absolute must at Disney World during the summer so you can regularly reapply throughout the day. We always bring it with us on trips and my daughter's bag has made it through without being subject to a secondary search. I wouldn't stress too much about whether or not something will make it through the quick screening because a secondary search can also be at random.
If for some reason you forget your spray sunscreen in your park bag don't worry! Disney World has
hundreds of shops throughout the theme parks and it is super easy to find a travel or full-size bottle of sunscreen if you need it. In some of the larger stores, it is actually at the check-out area so you do not need to search around for it.
If you burn easily and happen to need some aloe while you are in the theme parks a hidden gem at Disney World is the
First Aid Centers located at each theme park. You can stop by these any time for aloe, bandaids, and travel-size over-the-counter medications. Each center is staffed with a nurse that is super helpful if you start feeling ill or need extra care for an injury!
Happy Planning,
Jenna
