Wondering if Security will turn me away while I have a KY Lightsaber, which is powered by lithium battery. I am planning on attending Oogie Boogie bash, so I am wondering if I can bring in a non-disney lightsaber?

Welcome back to planDisney, Ariel! As a fellow traveler attuned to the ways of the Force, I’m delighted to help you navigate this galactic question about lightsabers at the Disneyland Resort.

You’ll be happy to know that non-Disney lightsabers are currently allowed at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, including during special events like Oogie Boogie Bash. According to the Disneyland Resort’s official list of prohibited items, lightsabers, whether powered by lithium batteries or otherwise, are welcome as long as they comply with general Property Rules. The most important one to remember is that lightsabers should be used responsibly, meaning no mock duels or swinging them around in crowded areas (even if you feel your Jedi reflexes are sharp!).

That said, the final decision always rests with the Security Cast Members at the entrance. They’re there to keep the magic safe for everyone, and while your lightsaber should fall within the guidelines, they do have the discretion to make the call if needed.

If you ever decide to strengthen your connection to the Force, I highly recommend visiting Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Hidden within Black Spire Outpost, Savi’s offers a deeply immersive experience where you can craft a custom lightsaber guided by your chosen path: Peace and Justice, Elemental Nature, Protection and Defense, or Power and Control. The moment your blade ignites for the first time in that secret gathering is truly unforgettable. It’s one of those experiences that turns a visit to Batuu into something deeply personal and lasting.

And since you’ll be attending Oogie Boogie Bash, here’s one final tip: consider skipping the first Frightfully Fun Parade to explore Villains Grove early. The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail becomes a dreamlike realm of eerie light, swirling fog, and hauntingly beautiful music. It’s a must-see transformation that feels like stepping into a villain’s fairytale. Once you’ve walked through, the second parade showing usually draws lighter crowds. For great viewing, I recommend the stretch near The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure (where the parade begins) or the area across from Carthay Circle Theater for a more scenic backdrop.

I hope your evening at the Bash is filled with spooky fun and stellar moments. And wherever your journey through the parks leads, may the Force, and the magic, be with you!
