Hi Pat!
My family stayed at the
Animal Kingdom Lodge in August and we loved it. If you stay here, make sure to reserve a Savanna View. This will allow you to see the animals from your room! We had giraffes, zebras and deer all outside our window. I loved to wake up in the morning and have a cup of coffee on the balcony while watching the animals graze outside. They even have a room with bunk beds, which your 12-year old twins would love! You will also want to go on the Wanyama Safari if you stay here. You will get a tour ride throughout the savanna and an up-close and personal view of the animals. Call 407-WDW-PLAY to reserve. If your girls like animals, this is a great resort! My daughter wants to be a vet when she grows up, so this was perfect for her.
Disney's Wilderness Lodge is also a wonderful resort. When I stayed here, I particularly loved the theming and ability to see the Electrical Water Pageant from the resort. You can also take the water launch to
Magic Kingdom, which is a fun, and fast, way to get to the park.
May I also suggest looking into
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. This resort is a favorite of my kids because of the Hawaiian theming, 'Ohana (which is a delicious all-you-care-to-eat restaurant - my fav throughout all of Disney!) and the pool is incredible. You are also on the monorail line to both Magic Kingdom and Epcot at this resort, which saves a ton of time.
No matter which resort you choose, I know your girls will have an amazing visit!
Magically,
Stacy
