Welcome aboard, Lara!
Thank you for reaching out to us at planDisney with your personal question and concern about your upcoming
Disney Cruise Line experience. You and your husband are as welcome as can be, and I want to help put your mind at ease so that you can enjoy everything the gorgeous
Disney Wish has to offer on your magical vacation!
I’m pleased to share that there are
currently no weight or size restrictions on the
AquaMouse, the first ever Disney attraction at sea. Guests must be in generally good physical condition to board and stay on the inflatable rafts, but they are even accessibility compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) supporting a wheelchair transfer. Disney advises that you must be free from heart, back, and neck conditions to ride safely. The only restrictions on this attraction are for the safety of small children, ensuring they are tall enough to manage the movement and stay seated on the raft. I encourage you or your husband to speak with a friendly Crew Member on Decks 12 or 13 of the Disney Wish for any boarding tips in person; these lifeguards rotate positions and are all familiar with the safety and standards for the AquaMouse to make you feel comfortable once onboard.
Please know you aren’t alone in these concerns, as
I answered a similar question this year about the water slides onboard and at Disney Castaway Cay. It’s a terrible feeling to have thoughts of “what if” before boarding an attraction in fear that you may not be able to enjoy the same way other Guests are, simply due to your size. I often find that the anxiety built up in your mind is worse than reality, and Disney goes above and beyond to make everyone welcome and included in their thrilling experiences. I understand the fear of potential embarrassment or needing rescue and am so glad you chose to come to us for an official answer on this critical topic. The Disney Cast Members and lifeguards working the AquaMouse would surely advise if they felt there was a risk for anyone prior to boarding. The scale of the ship, size of the attraction tube, and power of the water movement is difficult to take in from afar, but once onboard you’ll see there really isn’t a possibility to get stuck – I hope you can let those worrisome thoughts float away in the ocean breeze with this reassurance.
You’re going to have an incredible cruise in just a few weeks, Lara! There’s just nothing like a Disney Cruise Line vacation to truly feel a sense of escape and wonder. You’ll have a blast
exploring all the amazing spaces onboard and
diving into fun activities. My favorite thing to do is simply sit with a drink and stare at the sea, feeling at peace and 100% “unplugged” from my busy reality at home. My wish for you and your husband is that this cruise leaves you with only positive, happy memories of this amazing time at sea together.
Thank you for trusting our planDisney team with your most personal vacation questions. I hope this helps you know what to expect and eases your mind as you get into the most important thing –
packing! Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any additional ways we can help.
Wishing you a magical sailing,
Amy
