Wondering about parks that have EMH. Staying 8/2014 (busy season) and plan to return to our hotel around 1:00 for naps (kids 3 & 6). Is it worth it to visit a EMH park in the am to catch a few rides? What about gridlock when we try to exit to hotel?

Hi, Amanda! Thanks for coming back to ask us more planning questions here on the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

When visiting Walt Disney World with young children, it's really a good plan to take an afternoon break back at your resort for a nap, swim and snack. There is so much going on in the theme parks that kids can easily become overstimulated. And it doesn't hurt for parents to recharge their batteries, too! Plus, you'll be visiting in the summer when the temperature and humidity will be high, so that daily break is all the more important. My advice is to keep to your 1:00 PM break time because this is really an ideal time to exit the parks as they will have already started to become more crowded by lunchtime.

In my opinion, it's definitely worth it to visit a park with Morning Extra Magic Hours. It's one of the perks of staying on property at a Disney resort, so why not take advantage of that benefit to experience your priority attractions with lower crowds? You should not encounter any gridlock exiting the park midday. The gridlock situation, however, can often occur during busy times (particularly during the summer and holiday seasons) when there are literally thousands of guests all trying to exit simultaneously at park closing following the nighttime fireworks and shows (at Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios). You can expect rather long waits for transportation, particularly the buses, when this situation occurs.

Wishing you a magical vacation, Amanda! Please write back with any other questions as you plan your August 2014 trip.
