    Wondering if we need to "reserve" a wheelchair prior to our arrival at the park to insure that one will be available for my daughter. Also, would we pick the chair up in the same area that we would request a guest assistance pass?

    Hi Jamy!
    Walt Disney World does a wonderful job of accommodating guests with mobility issues. They have wheelchairs.available at all four theme parks as well as Downtown Disney. Wheelchairs are available for rent at guest services/strolled rentals. The cost for rental is $12 per day at the theme parks, and $12 per day plus $100 refundable deposit at Downtown Disney. Wheelchair rentals are not available at Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon.
    If you arrive at the parks in the morning, you should have no issue getting a wheelchair. There have been instances where guests arriving in the latter part of the day were unable to receive a wheelchair, especially on peak attendance days. Keep in mind that there are only for use at the theme parks. They cannot be removed from the parks, nor used at the resorts. If you are looking for a duration of stay rental, I would recommend contacting an independent wheelchair rental company, such as Walkermobility.com. This way you would be able to keep the wheelchair for the entire stay and use it at the resorts.
