Hi Michele,
Welcome to planDisney!
Of course, I am always happy to talk about visiting the Walt Disney World® Resort, especially when there is food involved! Both of our girls have food allergies so we have relied on the services from
Special Dietary Requests for years now. The short answer is yes, you may certainly ask! There is no guarantee that the restaurant will have them, but, in our past experience, chefs have been able to accommodate our girls' food allergies even when items are not listed on the menu. Here is the process we normally follow.
First, we make
advanced dining reservations and note the allergies on each of those reservations. Then, when available, we use
Mobile Dine Check-in through the My Disney Experience Mobile App and we note the allergies again in that process. When we are seated at the restaurant, a cast member reviews the allergies with us, notes the allergy-friendly options on the menu, and typically asks if we need to speak with a chef. Occasionally, there have not been options on the menu that one of our girls can eat. In those instances, the chefs have always let us know what they can prepare for her. The service has truly been wonderful.
Although we do check menus prior to arrival,
Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering can be a little tricky. We typically get to the Quick-Service dining location and ask a cast member our allergy-related questions before we place a mobile order. Now that our girls have visited Disney quite a few times, they have a much better idea of what they can order from Quick-Service restaurants.
Michele, go ahead and make those dining reservations if you are within your
advanced dining reservation booking window and have not already secured reservations. Continue to review dining location menus prior to arrival (just go to each restaurant's home page and click on View Menu). Then, keep counting down until your arrival date!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
