Hi I was wondering where my family could get the best deal on WDW tickets. We are a military family and we are having a difficult time finding affordable rates. We are planning on going to Florida in October for my birthday and my 8th wedding anniversary

Hi Corinne! Disney World is the perfect spot to celebrate your birthday and anniversary! How fun!

Discounted Disney park tickets are available to military families at various places, such as your local base, the Shades of Green military resort at Disney, and by mail order from certain branches of the military. The unofficial website www.mousesavers.com is a great source of information about discounts at Disney World, and you can find more information about these discounted ticket options for military families by visiting www.mousesavers.com/wdwtixdiscounts.html. I recommend that you call each of these options for ticket pricing, and then compare the prices to those of an unofficial ticket broker, such as UnderCoverTourist.com, to make sure you're getting the best deal.  For the least expensive tickets, choose tickets that allow you to visit one park per day -- you'll save money by not adding options, such as the ability to hop between parks.

In addition to discounted park tickets, be sure to investigate other ways to save on your vacation. Military families have the option of staying at the Shades of Green resort, which is located conveniently close to the Magic Kingdom at prices considerably less than the Disney resorts in that area. Also, other resorts, such as the Swan and Dolphin, offer special military rates.  You can cut your food spending by bringing cereal bars or other foods from home and eating breakfast in your room and by bringing your own snacks to the parks. Also, be sure to request anniversary and birthday buttons at Guest Services -- Disney loves to help you celebrate, and sometimes you may receive a free dessert or other special surprise!

I hope this helps! Thanks for asking me your question. Please feel free to visit me again at the Moms Panel if you need more help!
