Welcome Home, Michele!
As a mom of four, I understand where you are coming from. My three teenage boys are using more and more space and wow can they eat! Staying in
Disney Vacation Club Villas certainly does help since we usually have a full kitchen to keep stocked with snacks and the 1 and 2 Bedroom Villas have a lot of space.
I’m not sure if you are looking at Deluxe Studios or 1-Bedroom Villas, so let’s talk about all of your options, Michele! One of the many things I love about staying in
Disney Vacation Club Accommodations is the room flexibility. They truly had families in mind when they designed these rooms.
First, did you know that the Deluxe Studios at Disney’s Old Key West Resort don’t have a pull-out sofa, but a second queen-size bed? This is one of our favorite resorts and I think it is truly a hidden gem! You’ll also find the newer queen-size pull-down sofas in the Deluxe Studios in the newly renovated rooms at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Disney’s Riviera Resort. These pull-down Murphy Beds are a bit more spacious and are more comfortable than the typical sleeper sofa.
If you’d like to have completely separate sleeping spaces for each kiddo, several resorts have Deluxe Studios that sleep 5 Guests because they offer the sleeper sofa (or the pull-down queen in the case of Disney’s Riviera Resort) and a single pull-down bunk under the TV. You’ll find these rooms at Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Riviera Resort.
If you’ll be wanting the extra space of a 1-Bedroom Villa, several resorts offer 1- Bedrooms that sleep 5. Rooms at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Bay Lake Tower, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas (not in the Value level rooms!) offer a single-person sleeper chair in addition to the sleeper sofa. The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Riviera Resort, and the renovated 1-Bedrooms at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa offer the single pull-down bunk in addition to the sleeper sofa.
That gives you a lot of options, Michele! Currently, Americans are excited to travel and many Disney Vacation Club Members have a lot of
Vacation Points to use since they may not have traveled during the pandemic. This means rooms are booking even earlier than possible. If your dates are not flexible, I would book your Home Resort as close to the 11-month mark as you are able. Even if it isn’t your desired room, it is better to have something than to be shut out. You can always pack an inexpensive air mattress if necessary. Then, if you intend to try for a different resort, I would be on the Disney Vacation Club Member Website exactly at 8 AM, exactly at the 7-month mark to see if you can switch resorts. Deluxe Studios are the most popular accommodation with Disney Vacation Club and they book quickly! Book early for the greatest number of options.
I hope this helps with your planning, Michele. Sending you pixie dust for that perfect reservation!
Wishing you
Membership Magic!- Kate
