Ethel,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
As with all things in life, there are different answers for different questions. Or in this case, different car seat requirements for different ride solutions!
The easy answer is that shuttle services that uses buses, like Mears Connect, do not require car seats. It is when you start moving into ride services, like Uber and Lyft, that you would need a car seat. You are pretty much always in a standard car with those services, thus the need. Obviously if you were to get a rental car you would again need a car seat.
When you move up to car services, including the Disney Minnie Van Service Connected by Lyft, you still need car seats, but you will often find that their cars come with car seats, either already in the vehicle, or by request when making a reservation. This is a great convenience, and of course it is great when you can fly into Orlando without having to drag a car seat in tow.
BOTTOM LINE
When do you need a car seat?
- Bus = No
- Car = Yes
- Car services = Still YES, but often supplied by the service provider
I hope that this helps. Write me back if you want some added clarification, or other suggestions.
Have a Magical Vacation!
