Bottoms up, Emma, and welcome to planDisney! I have to admit that I am a sucker for a specialty drink, especially if it comes in a wacky vessel. One of my favorites is the
Lapu Lapu at 'Ohana, as it comes served in a whole fresh pineapple. Glittering doodads and light up cubes just add that extra element of fun to a tasty beverage, and I'm glad to hear that you also value a little pizzazz and excitement with your drinks! I'd be happy to help you with your question about what kinds of extras can come along with specialty libations around Walt Disney World Resort.
I started by looking at the menus of the two locations you mentioned,
Trattoria al Forno and
50's Prime Time Cafe. The menu description of the specialty character drink at both Trattoria and 50's Prime Time indicates that it comes in a souvenir character cup, but does not specify a straw clip or glowing ice cubes. There are other menu items at 50's Prime Time that do say they're served with "Dad’s Glowing Electric Ice Cubes," and I found them listed among the Non-Alcoholic Specialties. Now, I do want to say that just because it's not in the menu description doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but I will add that I have not seen the clips lately in my travels around Disney World. I think the best course of action is to chat with your server about the availability of this nostalgic extra and see if they're typically served at that location. Your server may also be able to point you in the direction of a restaurant that does offer something similar to what you've described here.
I also took a look at the menus of 15 different locations around the parks and resorts, just to see if there was a mention of the clips. What I found is that a majority of specialty drinks will come in a souvenir character cup, and very few are offered with another specialty such as a glow cube or an edible glitter mix-in. Specialty offerings are changing all the time, and the Foodie Guides on the
Disney Parks Blog are a great place to review the new seasonal food and beverage offerings coming to Disney World. I think the return or resurgence of character clips would be a newsworthy event, so keep an eye on those guides!
