Hello! I am wondering what we can and cannot do without park tickets. We will not have park tickets on our 1st day. Can we visit Downtown Disney? Can we use the shuttle service to visit other resorts and see their decorations for Christmas? Thanks

You will be so happy to know there are a number of things that you and your family can do that does not include the Disney parks or the need for park tickets. Downtown Disney does not require any type of admission ticket and offers a large selection of shopping, dining and entertainment options (some entertainment locations, like Disney Quest, would need a ticket that can be purchased at the door). I love to wander all the amazing merchandise shops while the kids love the Legoland play area.

Another great area for you to visit is the Boardwalk Resort. This resort area features unique shops, restaurants and bars along a waterside walkway, and in the evening you can sit and enjoy free entertainment from talented magicians, comedians and jugglers. This entire area is a fantastic spot to walk along and visit the Yacht and Beach Club and in the evening you can watch a portion of the Epcot Illuminations from the bridge at the end of the boardwalk.

You can also spend some time at the Fort Wilderness resort. Here you will find carriage rides and horseback riding for a minimal fee and in the evenings you can enjoy a free campfire sing-a-long with Chip and Dale followed by the movie of the night.

If resort hopping is your thing, you are free to use any of the Disney transportation mode without a park admission. The buses, boats and monorails will easily take you to any resort you would like to visit. Resort hopping is my favorite thing to do outside of the parks, especially during the holiday seasons. Be sure to visit the Grand Floridian, Beach Club, and Wilderness Lodge, they are some of our favorite holiday resorts.

Don't forget on top of all of these choices, another choice of many is just chilling at your resort pool. Hope you have an amazing time!
