Hi there, Donna! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you for dropping by with your Walt Disney World Resort inquiry!
Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park is home to over 1,500 animals which are made up of over 250 species. Some of the species range from Okapis to Flamingos to Lions and so many more!
While many of the species at Disney's Animal Kingdom call the park "home",
butterflies are actually among some of the species that consider the park their "home away from home". This means that there is not a dedicated area to view butterflies at Disney's Animal Kingdom. However, over 70 butterfly species migrate to Orlando, Florida throughout the year. So, depending on the time in which you visit, you and your family may be able to spot a variety of butterflies! Walt Disney World Resort even plants specific plants in their gardens that attract butterflies. If you see a collection of beautiful flowers, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the chance to spot some butterflies in their natural environment!
If your family would like even more animal viewing opportunities, I would highly recommend taking the chance to explore the
Maharajah Jungle Trek and the
Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail while visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom! Both of these self-guided trails offer some amazing views of various Asian and African species of animals!
Have fun exploring and, remember, adventure is out there!
