Hi Daniela,
Disney World has done a wonderful job ensuring that its theme parks, resorts, and attractions are accessible to all guests. I recommend reviewing the new
guidance for guests with mobility disabilities for an overview of all of the options available to make your trip extra magical. We have rented a wheelchair several times and the process is super quick and convenient.
One of the options available to guests with mobility concerns is the ability to
rent an ECV at the entrance to each theme park. This is a great option for someone who does not need a mobility device all of the time but will need extra help getting through the theme park for a full day. You will not be able to take the ECV out of the theme park you rent it from. If you are Park Hopping to a different theme park, you will return your ECV before exiting the theme park and pick a new one up at your next location. You will only be charged once for the rental so remember to keep your receipt and rental information to show at your next location. The only drawback to this process is that these devices are only available on a first come, first served basis so you are not guaranteed to get a device when you get to your next location or if you arrive at the theme parks later in the day.
If you will need an ECV on Disney transportation between theme parks, at your Disney Resort Hotel, and throughout your entire vacation, then your best option is the rent through Disney's preferred provided ScooterBug. This is the only private rental company that is authorized to leave and pick up your ECV at
Bell Services. This is super convenient because you can have them drop off the ECV before you arrive and it will be waiting for you when you are ready to head out. You can also keep this device with you throughout your entire stay. Keep in mind you will need to charge it and store it in the evenings in your Resort Hotel room. If you are going this route, I would have a note added to your reservation that you will be storing an ECV. This will give your Disney Resort hotel a heads-up to put you in a room that accommodates one of these devices.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
