Can you just wing it for meals - our first visit and we don't want to have a tight schedule? We are not really sit down diners, but might like to sit down for breakfasts, grab food for L/D. My kids snack alot on ice cream/popcorn. What is best?

Hi, Crystal!  How exciting that you are going for your first trip to Walt Disney World!  I hope it's wonderful!

I always recommend to people that if there is a meal you want to sit down at, you should make a reservation.  Depending on the time of the year, and taking into consideration any promotions going on - like free dining - getting a table at a sit down restaurant can be really difficult.  I've had great luck getting last minute reservations at some locations - like the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian - but you won't have the same luck at places like Chef Mickey's, 'Ohana, or the Crystal Palace, which can be incredibly popular spots for breakfast.

I would say you should make at least one or two reservations for restaurants you don't think you would want to miss, and the rest of the time, just plan on winging it.  If you are happy to eat counter service meals (and there is a nice variety at Walt Disney World, so you won't be relegated to a whole vacation of cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets), then don't worry so much about reservations.  But if you think you'd like to have a sit down breakfast - or if there's a restaurant you'd like to try before you leave - make a reservation so you won't be disappointed!

I hope your vacation is absolutely magical!
