Is there wifi on the Disney Dream or at Castaway Cay?

    Ahoy, Kristin!

It's WONDERful to hEAR from you again! Next Friday is the big day, and I know you are growing more and more excited about your magical getaway aboard the Disney Dream. It won't be long now!

Kristin, Disney Cruise Line offers Wi-Fi through their Connect@Sea packages. You can purchase a small, medium, or large package that ranges from 100 MB to 1,000 MB, or there is a pay-as-you-go option. Pricing is always subject to change, but currently, these packages are priced from $19.00 to $89.00. I like to disconnect while I'm at sea but usually purchase some megabytes to check email and post to social media. I've found the internet onboard to be slower than what I experience at home and have had luck with better connectivity near the Vista Café on Deck Four, midship, and Cove Café on Deck 11, forward. If you plan to purchase a package, you'll want to stop by the Connect@Sea Desk located on Deck Four, midship to pick up a Connect@Sea FAQ sheet. This is critical to your usage because it will inform you how to maximize your internet plan by turning off things that consume megabytes that won't need while you are traveling. And be sure to keep this information sheet so you know what to turn back on once the cruise is over. It's also essential for you to log-out each time you complete your internet session because this will consume your package very quickly. I have found the internet to work in some areas of Disney Castaway Cay, so it will depend on connectivity the day of your visit and where you try to access your package on the island.

I have a few more helpful tips to share, Kristin. The internet packages can be used on multiple devices and with others you are traveling with on the cruise, and there is a representative at the Connect@Sea Desk if you have any questions while onboard. Just check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app or the Personal Navigator, the paper newsletter, for the hours of operation. You'll also be able to take advantage of 50 MB for free if you sign-up by midnight on your first day. Information on this offer will be included on the back of your first Personal Navigator that will be given to you at check-in. Also, if you have an Apple device, you can utilize iMessage to communicate with others on the ship and back home who have iMessage. This can be done without purchasing a package while your phone is in airplane mode on the DCL-Guest Wi-Fi.

Thank you for sailing back over with another question, Kristin! Have the DREAMiest time on your sailing next week.

    Bon Voyage!
