Bright suns, Chad! I'm so glad you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel before your upcoming journey to Batuu. Some of my fellow panelists and I were having an online chat this morning about this exact situation. Since two heads (or in our case, six) are better than one, I'd be happy to share our thoughts.
Due to the immense popularity of
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Disney has implemented a virtual queue system, better known as
Boarding Groups. My friend,
Anne Marie, has had the best success so far with obtaining a low Boarding Group number. Although Disney Parks have
free wifi in the Parks, it can be slow when so many guests are using it at the same time for the same purpose. In her experience, she hopped off the wifi and instead used her own data. Another suggestion is to try and move to a less crowded area after scanning into
Disney's Hollywood Studios (this is also a good time to make a quick coffee run at
The Trolley Car Café). One last tip is to position yourself close to a
Guest Experience Team Member (you'll be able to identify them by their blue shirts with the castle logo) just in case you need help with the app.
Once the clock counts down to 8:00 AM, make sure you are logged into your
My Disney Experience app. In Anne Marie's case, both she and her husband logged in under her account (since he doesn't have one) on each of their phones; interestingly enough, he was the one who was able to get the Boarding Group first. When you open the app, if the "Join Boarding Group" button is live, click on it! If it's not, then choose "My Status," and you'll be taken to the next page where you can join a Boarding Group.
Best of luck, Chad, and may the Force be with you!
