Hello, my wife & I are planning a first-time trip to Aulani for our 5-year anniversary. We'd love a must do/see itinerary as we will be staying on resort the entire time to soak up every minute.

Aloha Jason and e komo mai (Hawaiian for "welcome") to planDisney! Congratulations on 5 years! A couples trip to Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa is the perfect way to commemorate the special occasion. Here are some of my top tips for an anniversary trip to Aulani:

    • Book a couples massage at Laniwai Spa. A relaxing visit at Aulani isn’t complete until you’ve had a massage at Laniwai Spa! The spa is a peaceful sanctuary tucked away from the noisy pools and gives you the secluded you-and-me time you and your wife will desire. Pro tip: make sure to get there early to take advantage of rain showers, heated pools, and other relaxing amenities the spa offers.
    • Rent Casabellas at ‘AMA’AMA. Aulani offers a variety of shaded retreats, but in your situation the 2-seat loungers on the lanai of ‘AMA’AMA is certainly the way to go! You get 2 casabellas, 2 lounge chairs, 2 umbrellas, along with a fruit platter and bottles of water to keep you hydrated throughout the day. Relax and enjoy the peaceful views of Ko Olina Lagoon without having to worry about reserving a chair for your pool days.
    • Anniversary dinner at ‘AMA’AMA. After you’ve soaked up the sun all day, take time to indulge in local Hawaiian cuisine. This restaurant offers a delicious 4-course meal and majestic views of the sand and the waves (make sure to book a reservation around sunset!).
    • Character breakfast at Makahiki. No Disney trip is complete without seeing our favorite Disney friends in their Hawaiian attire. You’ll get a 3-course breakfast with optional breakfast classics like mimosas. During my most recent visit there was even a Cast Member strumming his ukulele singing local classics during our breakfast!
    • Book a private portrait session. No better way to commemorate the occasion and remember all the core memories you’ll form from this trip than a private portrait session. The Cast Members know all the hidden gems of the Resort and all the perfect angles for those picture perfect shots. We did such a session during my last trip with family and the pictures came out so great that we had one printed to hang above our fireplace!
Jason, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to recommendations and activities available at Aulani. If you and your wife like to stay active while on vacation like me, I’d also recommend joining one of the organized walks around Aulani or the sunrise yoga on the lagoon. Also, don’t forget to download the Aulani Resort Mobile app, where you’ll find daily schedules, a list of activities that you can reserve, and a map of the property where you can find the various restaurants, activity centers, and other points of interest.

Mahalo for visiting us here at planDisney and I hope you and your wife have the best anniversary trip! If you have any more specific questions about your upcoming Aulani stay, feel free to contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!

    Your pal,

    Sean
