My wife and I are planning a Disney trip in Jan 2009 with two little ones. One 2 the other one just turning one in January. Generally what is the weather in January in Florida? What type of clothing is recommended especially if we do camp there?

January is a tricky month for weather. If you look on weather.com, you'll see that average daytime highs are in the low 70s and average nighttime lows are in the mid 50s. This is very comfortable for park touring and cozy for sleeping. However, those temperatures are just averages and any particular year may have considerable variation.

I visited WDW in January 2007. The skies were sunny, the temps were warm. I sat by pool with a frozen beverage. Then I visited WDW in January 2008. The skies were gray, the temps were frigid. I nearly got hit by a trim limb at Epcot that was blown down in the wind. As you can, there is a lot of variability there.

My main suggestions for packing would be:

    - Check the 10 day forecast before you go. This will give you lots of great information about what to expect.
    - Bring lots of layers. Even during the January I went to WDW that had great weather, the mornings were cool. I would start the day with a short-sleeved t-shirt, covered by a long-sleeved t-shirt, covered by a sweater. As the day wore on, I would remove or add layers for comfort.

Have a great trip to WDW!
