My wife and I are PCSing next month, and we’ll be visiting Disneyland on our way to our new duty station. My wife just reenlisted, and she is obsessed with Disney. Is there a way for her to get picked for the flag retreat one day, to make it extra special?

    Hi, Zero!

Welcome to planDisney, and thank you and your wife for your service. You are heroes among us! Celebrating a Permanent Change in Station at Disneyland Resort sounds like the perfect idea to me!

Watching the Flag Retreat Ceremony in Disneyland Park is always a moving experience for my family. I love watching the Guests in the area pause in the middle of their vacations for this special moment! The Flag Retreat Ceremony typically takes place around 4:15 p.m. each day along Main Street, U.S.A. Since schedules are subject to change, I suggest checking the Disneyland mobile app for an up-to-date schedule while you are in the theme parks.

There is no guaranteed method for being invited to participate in the Flag Retreat Ceremony in my experience. Instead, I recommend that your wife wear something noticeable to signify her military service and arrive early to the area surrounding the flag pole. A Cast Member is usually nearby getting ready for the ceremony, and it may be a good idea to chat with them about your wife's service. My planDisney pal Anna also suggested stopping by City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. to see if there are any options to nominate your wife for the ceremony.

Zero, did you know that you are visiting Disneyland Resort during the most spooktacular time of year?? Halloween Time continues through October 31, 2024, and it is filled with tasty, seasonal treats, festive decorations, and fun overlays on some of my favorite attractions like Haunted Mansion Holiday and Guardians of the Galaxy - Monsters After Dark. I like making a list of "must-try" snacks found in the Disney Parks Blog Halloween Foodie Guide before visiting during this spelltacular season!

Zero, thank you again for your service. I hope your wife can participate in the Flag Retreat Ceremony!

    Have a Frightfully Fun Vacation!
