Hello, David! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your great question. Like many runDisney fans, I was very excited for the recent return of in-person races. My 13-year-old son and I participated in the Disney Enchanted 10K a couple of weeks ago, and my husband was there to spectate, so I'm happy to relay his experience.
While specific spectator details have not been released yet for the inaugural
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend, I do know that the Race for the Taste 10K starts bright and early at 5:00 AM. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, transportation times and pick-up locations will be posted on signs in the lobby of each Host Resort. Typically, chartered buses will start transporting runners to the start line by 3:00 AM. The monorail and Skyliner transportation will not be operating for the 10K.
You are welcome to accompany your wife and daughter on the bus, but if you're like my Prince Charming, you may appreciate getting an extra hour of beauty sleep. My husband headed out to catch a bus outside our resort hotel around 5:00 AM, but he nearly missed seeing us at the finish line! My advice is to brew a strong cup of coffee and start walking out to the race transportation bus around 4:00 AM. If the race is at
EPCOT, it will be about a 10-minute walk from the drop-off to the finish line.
Here are a few planDisney tips:
*Surprise your runners with a fun homemade sign; it will probably still be dark, so pick a neon color for your poster board.
*In the next week or two, check the runDisney website for the Digital Event Guide which will include a link to
Runner Tracking. My husband used this to know when we were approaching (and then he had to sprint)!
*Splurge for
Memory Maker in advance of your vacation. There are lots of
PhotoPass photographers stationed on the course, and the pictures will be priceless!
I hope you have a great race-cation, David! Remember, I'm all ears if you need anything else before your trip!
