My wife, my daughter, and I are coming to Disneyworld next week! We are concerned that the weather forecast is showing upper 50s to lower 60s. What kind of clothing should we bring?

    Hi there, Philip! 🌟

As I sit here sipping my hot coffee in a frosty 28-degree Iowa, I totally feel your need to plan for those cooler temps—it’s all about staying cozy!

When visiting Walt Disney World in January, the magic word is layering! Your day might start at EPCOT bundled up in long pants and a hoodie, but by mid-afternoon, you'll be ready to switch to a t-shirt and shorts as the Florida sun warms things up. Then, as the evening chills roll in and you snag a prime spot for Luminous: The Symphony of Us, you’ll want those comfy layers back on to enjoy the fireworks without shivering. When packing keep this in mind and make sure you bring a variety of layers: t-shirts, sweat shirts, hoodies, and rain jackets are always on my packing list.

To tackle the temperature shifts, you’ve got a couple of options. One is to pack a roomy backpack to carry your wardrobe changes. Keep in mind the bag size limit is 24" x 15" x 18", plenty of space for all your layering magic.  Another is to rent a locker at the park. This way, you can stash your extra clothes and grab them as needed. Just remember, this might mean a little back-and-forth, but it’s a great option for traveling light.

Either way, with the right layers, you’ll be ready to make the most of your day—and stay comfy from sunrise to fireworks!

    Have an amazing, magical trip!

I have traveled to the Disney Parks in multiple stages of my life, including as a daughter, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother.  One of my favorite things to do is to travel with multi-generational groups. I am thrilled to be able to help other Disney guests plan their adventures. Learn More About Anne
