Hey there James!  Welcome back to planDisney with another great question.

My son is also a civilian Department of Defense employee and has purchased tickets several times over the last few years so I am familiar with the expiration issue.  As you might expect, I am a huge planner and like to plan ahead as far in advance as possible.  However, it is a bit tricky when purchasing discounted Magic Your Way military tickets from your base ticket office or the Shades of Green ticket office.  Tickets purchased early in the year usually expire near the end of the current year; tickets purchased later in the year will expire near the end of the following year.  Once the expiration date of a ticket has passed, it is no longer valid for theme park admission.  Basically, you will need to exchange your expired tickets for new tickets.  The value of the old tickets will be applied to the purchase of new tickets at the current price, and you will be responsible for any price increases since the time of purchase.  If the tickets were purchased from the Shades of Green ticket office, you should be able to take care of the ticket exchange there.  If the tickets were purchased at a base ticket office, any ticket upgrades or exchanges will need to be taken care of at a theme park Guest Relations location, or the Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs.

I hope that helps!  Please stop by planDisney again with any additional questions you may have.  Enjoy your stay!
