My wife and I are celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary and are staying at our favorite resort The Wilderness Lodge. Unfortunately were were only able to get a room with bunk beds and a queen size bed. This is more of a family room. How can we change?

Hello there, Bill! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for allowing us to help you plan your Walt Disney World Resort Vacation!

First of all, I’d like to wish you and your wife a very magical 45th wedding anniversary!  I personally believe visiting Walt Disney World Resort is the absolute best way to celebrate a wedding anniversary. I just so happen to do the same thing every year myself! Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is also the perfect place for a romantic getaway. The quiet majesty of the nature trails that surround this Disney Resort hotel make for a great couple’s activity!

I’ve actually had a very similar room reservation situation myself quite a few times during my years of visiting Walt Disney World Resort. In the past, I have had to reserve a room outside of my preferred room type due to availability at a specific Disney Resort hotel. Though I have not always been able to switch my room type, I can say that room availability does shift around quite a bit at all Disney Resort hotels. Some Guests may end up canceling or rescheduling their trip and additional rooms may end up being open for reservations. I would strongly recommend keeping an eye on the availability online or by calling the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations phone line to speak with a Cast Member about room availability. Though there is no guarantee that your preferred room type will come available, it is definitively a possibility!

Hopefully this information will help you in continuing to plan your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! Please let us know if we can help you with anything else!
