Hi Vicki!
Welcome back to planDisney! When planning a
Walt Disney World Vacation for a large group,
My Disney Experience is the way to keep everyone together and organized. There are a few pitfalls however, that can sometimes lead to issues when planning. I’ve got a few ideas that might help you out!
I am thinking that perhaps you have accidentally created multiple profiles for the same people. You mentioned that you made the hotel reservations and that once your family accepted your invitation to share, that they were “moved” to people you don’t have plans with. If you created a profile for your family member in your account and assigned those people to the hotel reservation, and THEN tried to link to your family through their own My Disney Experience Accounts, this would be the issue. The system does not recognize that the Mickey Mouse you created and assigned to the room is the same person as the Mickey Mouse that you later linked to through Family & Friends. They are two separately created profiles and so the system believes them to be two separate people.
If this is what happened, you’ll have to do a few quick things to fix the situation. You’ll need to go back to look at the resort reservations and reassign the Guests to the correct profiles. Remove the profiles you created, and replace them with the profile that your family member created for themselves. You’ll want to be sure that the correct profile is associated with the hotel room, and any tickets or other entitlements. Once you have the correct profiles linked, you will then share plans with those Guests, and you’ll want to go back and delete the profiles you created that aren’t being used.
If this is not the issue, or you still cannot get things to work as expected, you should
call the friendly Cast Members at Tech Support. When helping my son’s high school marching band plan a trip for over 100 kids to Walt Disney World, I had quite a few glitches and spent several hours working with Tech Support. They were super helpful and were able to help me get everyone linked correctly. Do make sure you have the correct name, address, and phone number for each member of your party before you call, as they like this information before linking you to another Guest.
Good luck, Vicki! I hope this helps and that you get everything set up and practically perfect in no time at all!
