Can we still see white rhinos in Animal Kingdom? There was a news article about the death of a white rhino in San Diego. It said there were only 5 left in the world, but didn't mention any in WDW. We will be there in Jan. Will we be able to see them?

    Hello Karol,

I, too, sadly heard the news of the passing of the northern white rhinoceros at the San Diego Zoo and was disheartened to hear only five now remain in the world. I hope with the help of those who are passionate about these beloved creatures and by educating the public and bringing more awareness, of the need to conserve our environment, the numbers will slowly rise.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is one of my favorite Walt Disney World parks to visit because Disney is educating Guests about how we can help and conserve and heal the world's environment and animals. Kilimanjaro Safaris is truly an inspiration and shows the hard work of so many Cast Members and their desire to preserve and keep some of the many once considered endangered animals safe and provides them the chance to continue to prosper in their numbers. While the San Diego Zoo white rhinoceros was a northern breed, the ones at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park are a southern white rhinoceros and are no longer considered endangered due to the help of protected areas and preserves like Kilimanjaro Safaris. On my most recent visit to Walt Disney World, I and my family, happily saw two of the southern white rhinoceros lounging comfortably on the preserve and have some wonderful pictures of these animals.

If I can be of any further pixie dusted assistance feel free to ask and may your upcoming stay at Walt Disney World be filled with many magical and memorable moments.

I am a Dreamer who has always believed dreams are meant to be the path to your future. Walt Disney, I believe, felt the same way, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." Disney has always been proof that endless imagination and the passion to make them come to fruition is possible. I will never be to old for Disney, it is home to all of us Dreamers.
