are wheelchairs available on cruise lines

    Ahoy, Kay!

It sounds like you are gearing up for an amazing vacation on the high seas with your favorite mouse! Whenever I set sail with Disney Cruise Line, I notice many Guests in wheelchairs and on motorized scooters navigating the public areas with ease. It never seems to hold them back from having an enjoyable experience. I hope you'll find this to be true on your sailing if you or someone in your travel party needs to get around by wheelchair. At this time, Disney Cruise Line offers wheelchairs for embarkation and disembarkation only as the wheelchairs on the ship are just for emergency situations. If you don't have one to bring along from home, you'll want to reach out to a third party vendor for a wheelchair rental. Companies like Special Needs at Sea (www.specialneedsatsea.com) offer equipment that can be rented and delivered directly to you at the port for cruises out of Port Canaveral.

Kay, I encourage you to reach out to the Disney Cruise Line Special Services Team at least 60 days prior to your cruise departure to speak to a member of the team about any accommodations needed for your sailing. You can also ask them any specific questions about accessibility on the ship. Their email is specialservices@disneycruise.com and phone number is (407) 566-3602.

Thank you for sending in your question, Kay. If we can assist you further, please write back.

    Have a magical day!
