Heigh-Ho Dan,
Planning a trip to Walt Disney World is an exciting adventure and with it comes to a bounteous amount of questions. You have definitely come to the right place. planDisney is a panel of Guests who have a wealth of Disney knowledge and Walt Disney World travel experience among us. And we definitely enjoy sharing our thoughts and advice to our fellow Guests so they to can have a magical and memorable visit.
Backpacks on rides and what to do? I am a backpack or large bag carrier and I can only think of one ride which took some manipulating to secure while riding at Magic Kingdom park,
Tomorrowland’s Space Mountain. While tight-fitting I still was able to secure it. Most rides can accommodate Guest’s carry-on bags. Unlike at other amusement parks, where sometimes large bins are available to store or Guests toss their bags to the other side of the ride and collect it when they are done, this is not protocol at Walt Disney World. I would tell you Hakuna Matata, you will more than likely find all rides to be quite accommodating.
How to tackle the rides at Magic Kingdom park? First, make a Top Five Must-Ride list. Knowing you may not be able to accomplish all the attractions at Walt Disney World, I’m not saying it can’t be done, I highly suggest conquering those rides you know you want to ride and filling in with others along the way. Arrive EARLY to the park and make your way to the most popular attractions first. As the day moves on into peak hours ride lines will get longer, the early dinner time and evening hours usually find some relief in wait times. Use your
My Disney Experience app to follow along with updated attraction wait times and plan your next move, or ride, with its help. And don’t be deterred by the times, Disney has gone above and beyond to make sure Guests, even when in queue lines, are truly transported to a magical moment. Look out for hidden Mickey’s in the queues and play along with Play Disney Parks, in your My Disney Experience.
What does October weather and conditions bring? Expect the unexpected is my best advice. October is my favorite time to visit and I have seen temperatures ranging from pleasant to brutally hot. I suggest always packing the following: sunscreen, water or refillable water containers, bandaids, deodorant, energy bars or snacks, portable charger and a lightweight jacket if the weather is cooler in the evening hours. But without a doubt ALWAYS pack a PONCHO. The day you don’t bring a poncho, it will for sure rain. Ponchos are lightweight, provide great full clothing coverage, if you purchase the right size, and are easily packable. I haven’t really come across bugs within the parks so I feel confident in saying you can forgo the bug spray.
