We've been to WDW several times but never at Christmas. I'm planning a suprise trip next Christmas but not sure which resort would be the best; WL or BC. We have stayed at both before and loved both. Which resort would you recommend? Thanks, Donna

Wow. This is such a tough call. I have stayed at both the Wilderness Lodge and the Beach Club numerous times. I stayed at the Beach Club during December a few years ago. There was a lovely carousel made of Gingerbread in the lobby. Very sweet -- literally and figuratively :-) And there were nice activities in and around the resort as well. The exact offerings vary year to year, but when we were there a cast member, dressed as a train conductor, did a dramatic reading of the Polar Express in the lobby of the Yacht Club.  Dozens of children mesmerized as the conductor rang a single jingle bell at the end. Then, each child was given their own bell on a red satin ribbon to take home. This is such a lovely memory for me.

I have not stayed at the WL during the holidays, but this past December the entire Moms Panel was able to have dinner at Artist Point and see the Lodge all dressed up for Christmas. There is a SOARING tree in the lobby. It really was the quintessential Christmas tree. I think the woodsy feel of the Lodge is exactly right for the holidays. Purely on themeing, I'd go for the WL.

But perhaps the biggest thing for you to consider when making your decision is transportation. Christmas is CROWDED. Because so many people are in the mix, getting around may take longer than you're used to. You should think about where you will be spending most of your park time. If you'll be mostly at the Magic Kingdom, then I would stay at the Lodge. This will cut down on your travel time substantially. If you're going to be at all the parks equally, or will be at Epcot a lot, then the Beach Club is the way to go.
