We've reserved one 3BR Deluxe Villa and one 1 BR villa at DVC Bay Lake Tower. We'd like all the adults in our party to be able to access both Villas with their MagicBands; at the least, my wife and I should be able to. How do we do this?

    Hi Dennis!

Welcome Home and welcome to planDisney! The Walt Disney World Resort is the perfect vacation destination for extended family and friends. We’ve traveled with groups as large as 21, and we all enjoy the time spent together in the Most Magical Place on Earth.

MagicBands are linked to a Guest, not to the room itself, or a specific trip or reservation. One person’s MagicBand can’t open two rooms on the same vacation. Only the Guests listed as the room occupants will be able to open the room with their MagicBand. Since you cannot physically stay in two rooms at the same time, and each Guest can only be listed in one room, their MagicBands will only open one door.

So let us talk about workarounds. Since MagicBands are associated with a Guest and not a reservation, any MagicBand associated with you such as a Magicband you have at home that still has a working battery, or a second newly purchased MagicBand will also open your room. Most MagicBands have a battery life of 2-3 years. If you or other party members have old MagicBands, or you want to purchase another new one, you could bring and exchange those to use as a room key. We have a similar situation this summer where we have friends coming with us for their first ever Disney vacation! I am giving them one of my older MagicBands so they can access our 2-Bedroom Villa to use our kitchen and laundry. If you want a smaller item to carry than the full MagicBand, you can use a small screwdriver and remove the puck from the center of the MagicBand, and place it in a puck holder.  They make some you can attach to a backpack or belt loop, or even slide onto your watch band.

Another option is to access the rooms with your mobile device and the My Disney Experience Mobile App. On our last visit, my college-age kiddo and teen had a separate room. Using the Mobile App, and my login information, they were able to have access to my room.

While I know ideally you’d like to be able to use one MagicBand for both rooms, I hope one of these alternate ideas will work for you! If you have more questions as you plan this epic trip, I hope you'll come back to see us here on planDisney!

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
