We’ve been DVC members for 11 years & for the first time got annual passes (gold). Our friends invited us down in December but we realized it’s the blackout period. Can we pay some extra on our APs or do we have to pay full price for more tickets?

Hello, Kami! Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Only a few more months until you hear those sweet-sounding words, "Welcome Home!"

How exciting that you are now a member of the Walt Disney World Passholder Family!  I also have the Disney Gold Pass, and I love receiving merchandise and dining discounts in addition to having access to the theme parks most days of the yEAR. As you've noted, your "golden ticket" does have a few blockout dates during the 2019 holiday season (December 19-31, 2019). Since you are excited to experience the magic of Christmas at The Most Magical Place on Earth with your friends, I'd recommend calling to inquire how much it would cost to upgrade to the Disney Platinum Pass. If you purchased your Gold Pass directly through Disney Vacation Club, then you can call them at (800) 800-9800. Otherwise, try calling Ticket Services at (407) 566-4985, and choose option 4.  Just keep in mind that the upgrade is not prorated and you must pay the difference in full at the time of the upgrade.

Kami, make sure to visit the Disney Parks Blog and the Walt Disney World website for information on all the holiday happenings around the resort. I'd highly recommend attending Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, in Magic Kingdom Park, and if you plan to stay through New Year's, the Fantasy In The Sky Fireworks are a must-do!
