We've just booked to travel to Orlando in July with our two boys aged 14 & 16. I'd like some recommendations for activities/theme parks to appeal to this age group who think they're too cool for Disneyworld!

Hi, Danielle!  Too cool for Walt Disney World?  If you could see me, you'd see my fingers stuck in my ears and I'm loudly going la-la-la over and over again so I don't hear that!

I have a 17 year old daughter, and she and 190 of her very best friends just got back from a week long vacation to Walt Disney World as part of her senior trip.  They visited all four Walt Disney World theme parks, as well as the two parks at Universal Orlando.  Overwhelmingly, the rides and attractions at Walt Disney World were the most popular parts of the trip.

Your boys would probably really enjoy things like Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Rollercoaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  And EPCOT offers Mission:  Space; Test Track; and Soarin'.  Even the Magic Kingdom, which I think many people believe to be geared more towards younger kids, has a lot to offer.  Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain were popular with my daughter's friends last week, and they all really loved the classics Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion.

Sea World has some great attractions, and my daughter was just raving about Kraken, one of the rides there.  The Kennedy Space Center, about an hour from the Walt Disney World area, has some very interesting exhibits.  Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure do offer some pretty cool coasters, and depending on when you go, you may be able to visit the new Harry Potter attractions currently underway at Islands of Adventure.  We do go to Universal occasionally, and my kids always have a good time, but when asked where they want to go, they'll say Walt Disney World every time!
