We've booked MNSSHP for Sept. What are the rules for costumes? We're 25 and 29 years old. Are non Disney characters ok? (StarWars). Any other tips? We'll probably have a nap/break 3-6pm at All stars hotel then MNSSHP 7 until midnight. Thanks again! :)

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Maria! Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) is an absolute "must do" for my family. In fact, we already have our party tickets for our fall visit!

There are a few simple guidelines as far as costumes go. The most important is that costumes are to be child-friendly and not offensive. No sharp or dangerous props. Masks are permitted, but they must not obstruct your vision. Star Wars characters are perfectly okay. And now that Disney has bought Lucasfilm and owns the Star Wars franchise, I suppose the argument could be made that all Star Wars characters have in fact become Disney characters!

I definitely have a few tips for you to make the most of your party time! While MNSSHP officially begins at 7:00 PM, party guests typically can enter Magic Kingdom at 4:00 PM with their MNSSHP tickets, so I would recommend pushing back your nap/break time at your resort, if possible. Perhaps have lunch at All-Stars, followed by a nap and swim. I would try to arrive at Magic Kingdom by 4:00 PM to enjoy the 3 extra "bonus" hours in the park before the party starts.

My family likes to plan an early dinner in the park so we'll be ready to go when all the Halloween fun begins. I recommend Columbia Harbour House for a great quick-service meal. Try the Lighthouse Sandwich!

There are some rare character appearances at MNSSHP. If you'd like to meet them without a huge wait, it's important to queue up no later than 6:15/6:30. The Cast Members will give you a special party wristband, trick-or-treat bag (yes, adults are absolutely encouraged to go through the candy trails!) and party map (which lists all the candy stations/trails, character greeting locations and times for the shows, parades and fireworks). Catch the second parade at 10:30 PM -- it is far less crowded.

Wishing you a hauntingly good time at MNSSHP!
