We’ve always stayed at the contemp, love the walk to Mk. Looking at next years trip and don’t know if we should stick to the contemp or try another deluxe. Son has autism so ease to parks is a must. I don’t want a spread out hotel either. Help!

    Hi Tara!

Thanks for coming back to visit us at planDisney!

I personally love trying out new resorts on my Disney vacations! It’s fun for me to experience all that the resorts have to offer and take in the vibe of each one. I’ve been lucky enough to stay at all of the deluxe resorts at Disney World, so I’m happy to brainstorm with you!

First and foremost, like you, I love the location of the Contemporary. And my boys get such a kick out of the fact that the Monorail rides right through it! You really can’t go wrong with choosing to stay at a place you know you love and are comfortable in.

With that being said, I’m going to throw out another option that may be fun to try! My favorite deluxe resort of all: the Boardwalk! Hear me out.

The Boardwalk is within walking distance of or just a short boat ride away from both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The pool is similar to the Contemporary in that it’s a smaller, more manageable size with a fun waterslide. And the entertainment at night is so much fun! It’s a destination in itself, but as a resort guest, you’re close to the action.

While the hallways can get a bit long, the resort overall isn’t too spread out. I’d request a room close to the lobby for a shorter walk to your room.

Since proximity to the parks is a high priority for you, I’d personally base your resort choice on which parks you plan to visit. If Magic Kingdom is your highest priority, sticking with the Contemporary (or trying out a different Magic Kingdom resort like the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, or Wilderness Lodge!) will be the way to go.

But if you’d like to explore Epcot and Hollywood Studios, trying out a resort like the Boardwalk or Yacht & Beach Club could be a fun change of pace! The Riviera might even be a good choice if you think you’d be okay with managing the Skyliner

At the end of the day, I don’t think you can go wrong with any deluxe resort you choose! They all offer something great! But I hope that gives you a starting point when choosing your home base for your next Disney World vacation.

If you have any other questions as you continue to plan, let us know! We’re always happy to help!
