We went to AK on March 1st and rode Mt. Everest - awesome. We've watched some shows on Disney since, and apparantly on this ride is a animatronic Yedi on it. But we didn't see this! Can you confirm if it was down that day, or did we have our eyes shut?!

Hi Stacy!  Expedition Everest happens to be a special ride for us as it was my daughters very first thrill ride experience!  She was able to experience EE when it opened back in 2006, and the Yeti was in full functional mode.  "Betty", as she's affectionately called, is perched on the right side of the cave, right before the main 80 foot drop.  When approaching the drop, the Yeti would "swipe" at the riders, her long arm almost grazing tops of heads!  It was both a thrilling and exciting experience, which really made EE extremely popular.  Then in 2009, there were structural issues with the Yeti, and they ceased having her reach out to the riders.  Strobe lights were added to highlight the Yeti.  There have been several ideas circulated on how to repair the issues at hand, and we have no idea when she will be in functional mode again.  Currently, there is a screen up where the Yeti was, so here's hoping that repairs are being made as we speak, and you will be able to experience the full thrill of Expedition Everest! -Malanie

Hi there! The Disney Parks have been a part of my life since I was a little girl. Introducing my children, husband, and family to all the magic that Walt Disney World can offer has led to countless moments with Mickey and Friends, Disney Vacation Club membership and fun on the high seas with Disney Cruise Lines! Our vacations are usually centered around a visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth, and I am super excited to help you plan and create magical moments for you and your families!
