Only 3 weeks til we arrive! My 7 yo son has a form of mutism and will not talk. He is a big star wars fan...can he still participate in the academy training if he doesnt talk? Dont want to get his hopes up if he cant do it. Thank you!!

    Hi Candra,

There are children that don't speak English who participate in the Jedi Training Academy. While they can speak, they're effectively in the same boat as your son.

He would certainly be able to participate. However, when you go to the Training Academy, you'll have to bring your son with you and explain the situation. Typically, the cast member running the sign-ups will speak with the children. You should let the cast know that your child has a medical issue (physical or psychological, it does not matter) which prevents him from speaking, but that he would like to be part of the show. Most of the kids in the show do not speak as part of the performance, so again, this should be no issue at all. However, your son should be able to interact without speaking. For example, performing light saber moves as instructed or possibly battling Lord Vader.

There are many guest films of Jedi Training Academy available on YouTube. I suggest that you watch one. If you feel like your son would be OK with the participation, then by all means go ahead and sign him up.

May the force be with you.
