Hi there, Sabrina! Welcome to planDisney. First and foremost, congratulations on your pregnancy! You’re so close to meeting your little bundle of joy. Of course, visiting the parks while pregnant is magical in its own way! I’d love to share my experience and how I handled the parks while pregnant.
When I was pregnant with my son, I was 20 weeks pregnant and celebrating my birthday in September, which is right around your arrival date. Weather-wise, it’s definitely best to dress in layers. Looking back at old photos, I was wearing a Disneyland sweatshirt on the trams, and by lunchtime, I was in a loose T-shirt and leggings. Since September can be warm in Southern California, I highly recommend bringing cooling towels or a portable fan that you can clip onto your bag strap!
As those temperatures creep up, it’s so important to stay hydrated! Bring a reusable water bottle to
fill up as you go about your day. I also like to go to quick-service restaurants and ask for a cup of water with ice to stay extra cool! When it gets really hot, I like to pack small cartons of coconut water for extra electrolytes, too.
For places to cool off or take a break from being on our feet, I highly recommend the Disney Animation Building at California Adventure. There’s cool air running throughout and several sitting areas where you can watch the different Disney movie animations come to life. You can also partake in activities such as
Animation Academy where you can draw your very own character sketch. Another place I love to relax is in the Great Hall inside the
Grand Californian. The vast and beautiful lobby is another way I like to keep cool. There’s tons of seating around, entertainment, and I believe you’ll be able to catch the dessert cart filled with delicious treats for purchase. Pregnant or not, it’s a great place to take a break from the parks.
If you’re interested in
renting an electric conveyance vehicle (ECV), you most certainly can do so at the Stroller Shop outside the theme parks, just east of the Disneyland Park Main Entrance. At this time, the rental rate is $60.00, plus sales tax. While my siblings asked if I needed one when I was pregnant, I regret not taking them up on their offer because that would’ve saved my feet and ankles by the end of our visit.
If you’re looking for a sweet nod to remember this trip by, pop into
Plaza Point on Main Street to get a customized ornament! I picked out an ornament and had a Cast Member write out my son’s due date. I love seeing it every holiday season on our tree.
