    What is going on the week of oct 17th 2011? I wasn't able to get a room at the animal kingdom lodge and their doesn't seem to be any Florida resident rates then.

    Hi, Connie! There are so many wonderful things going on during October (like Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Parties and Epcot's Food and Wine Festival), but I suspect the increase that week is due to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic golf tournament.  A field of 128 players will tee off October 20-23, 2011, at Disney's Magnolia and Palm golf courses.  I'm not sure that this is what has the Animal Kingdom Lodge booked solid, but it's my best guess. Thanks for your question.
