What week is Jersey week in 2011? I am planning a Disney vacation with my family in November before Thanksgiving and we would like to avoid this week if possible.

Hi, Susan!  You don't want to be there for Jersey week?  Oh my - I think Snooki and the gang may have given all us Jersey girls a bad name!

Jersey week, as it's called, is the week of the New Jersey Education Association Convention.  Many New Jersey public schools are closed so that the teachers have the opportunity to attend the convention, so it's a short week for many New Jersey kids.  Some years, the convention also falls the same week as election day, which is another day many schools would have off, so parents wanting to head to Walt Disney World may be able to spend a full week and have their kids miss only one day of school.

For 2011, the convention is scheduled to be held November 10 and 11.  And just in case you want to avoid the spray tan clan in 2012, the convention that year is slated for November 8 and 9.

For the record, not all of us Jersey folks head to Walt Disney World that week!  It may not be as crowded as you might think!

    Have a great vacation!
