We’d like to spend our Thanksgiving at Ft. Wilderness campground. It seems there are no sites available. Have they not opened reservations yet or is it really sold out?

    Welcome to planDisney!

There is nothing better than spending a holiday at Walt Disney World Resort. You get to skip the cooking, the decorations are already up, and the activities are endless.

Disney Resort hotel reservations are currently open through October 2025. The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort follow the same schedule for reservation release dates as the rest of the Disney Resort hotels. I just checked for availability the week of Thanksgiving this year and did not see any options for booking the campsites just like you mentioned. There were several other Disney Resort hotel options still available at everything from Value Resorts to Deluxe accommodations.

If you are set on staying at the campsites, you could continue to check availability in case someone cancels their current reservation. Keep in mind that Thanksgiving week is one of the busiest times of the year at Disney World. It is unlikely that new reservations will become available. If you plan to spend your holiday weekend at Disney World, I recommend making reservations as soon as possible at your second choice for accommodations. You always have the option to cancel a reservation if you change your mind or if a campsite opens up before your travel dates. This is always subject to the cancellation policy that was in effect when you booked your resort reservation.

One of the best parts about spending Thanksgiving at Disney World is the wonderful options for Thanksgiving dinner! Liberty Tree Tavern at Magic Kingdom serves a traditional Thanksgiving dinner every day of the year so you can rest assured they know exactly what they are doing. There are typically several other dining locations that serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal but those will not be announced until closer to the holidays. Keep an eye on the Official Disney Parks Blog for a new Foodie Guide for the Holidays like this one from 2023.

    Happy Planning,
    Jenna
