We'd like to run the Castaway Cay 5K and not have to return to the ship afterward. Do we HAVE to store our bags or can we run with a small string backpack for sandals and sunscreen?

    Ahoy Jill!

Welcome aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  You are racing toward your embarkation day!  I bet the excitement is growing as you finalize your packing lists and get ready for all of the magic included when you sail with Captain Mickey.  I cannot wait for you to be onboard and visit my favorite Bahamian island, Castaway Cay!

Many guests love to start their day on Disney’s private island by running the Castaway Cay 5K.  Not only is this a great way to jump start your day and tour this beautiful oasis, but when you participate in this race, you will be one of the first guests on the island!

You can certainly run with whatever you want to carry as you participate in this event.  A small string backpack is a great option that will not weigh you down or make you too hot as you race around the island.  You are not required to store your bag, but there are places available to leave your personal belongings if you choose.

If you enjoy running, do not miss the outdoor track encircling deck 4 of your ship.  If you go out early, you can get some exercise while taking in a beautiful sunrise.  Each lap is four tenths of a mile, so just eight laps will be equal to the Castaway Cay 5K if you’d like to prepare for the event!

Race back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you have any additional questions before you run toward your cruise!

    “Sea” ya real soon!  Angie
