On your mark! Get set! Molly, let's goooooo! It's time to see all that training pay off at the Most Magical Place to Race. I can feel it in my
sole!The countdown to
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is making me excited (and the nerves are kicking in, too). I'm glad you raced by planDisney with this question while finalizing your packing list.
The
runDisney Race Guidelines list backpacks as prohibited items, so I understand the potential concern about a hydration pack. But this is in a bullet, which says, "...baby joggers, strollers, baby carriers and backpacks..." I think the context matters. I have seen athletes with hydration packs on the course before. The main issue is whether the item could pose a safety concern for you or other runners. So, Cast Members have the final say, but this is a pretty common item, and I would feel comfortable bringing and using mine.
Be sure to check out the
runDisney expo site, which is up now for Marathon Weekend. In addition to providing information on transportation and spectators, it has course maps that show where the water and fuel stops are.
I have been watching the weather forecasts daily, and the chances of the half-marathon being sprinkled with rain instead of Pixie Dust are heading in the wrong direction. If you make any wishes on a star this week, please whisper "afternoon showers. " And perhaps add some disposable ponchos to your packing list, just in case.
I can't wait to see all the runners on the course! If you have any other questions, please come back by
planDisney. We'll do our best to run down the answers for you.
Every Mile is Magic!
