Hi Camille!
Welcome to planDisney! I can’t wait for this year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!
The holidays are my absolute favorite time to visit Disney World.
As far as costumes go, I’ll reference the
costume guidelines while I give my thoughts on it all! In the current guidelines,
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is listed under the separately ticketed events, which states that costumes for Guests 14 and older are allowed.
However, I’d be hesitant to come dressed as Santa or Mrs. Claus due to some of the wording in the guidelines. In one part of the guidelines, it states that “Disney reserves the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing…attire that could detract from the experience of other Guests.” And in another part, it states, “All Guests may dress as their favorite character, but may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.”
While your intent may not be to attract that kind of attention, I would be concerned that it could, especially with so many little ones attending the party. Plus, Santa himself will be meeting with Guests at Storybook Circus, and he’s featured in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.
Of course, festive attire is encouraged! I know I’ll be wearing a Disney Christmas sweater when I attend! And while there’s nothing that specifically states that Santa and Mrs. Claus costumes are not allowed, it might be a better option to “Disney Bound” and wear clothing inspired by the two of them instead of a full-out costume.
I hope that gives you some guidance as you plan your night at the party! If you have any other questions,
let us know. We’re always happy to help!
